A survey demonstrates that about 75 million people are using contact lenses today, for the reason that wearing contact lens protects one from the risk of eyeglasses breakage and provides an excellent peripheral vision as normal people. However, popular as it is, contact lens has been misunderstood by people in some aspects of its usage, thus those who are intended to have a try to wear contact lens, getting a knowledge of those misinformation, will hesitate to use it. Therefore, it is necessary to make them clear to make people put off doubts and fears, helping them get rid of the troubles of wearing eyeglasses.

One is able to wear contact lens while they are engaging in sports. It is believed that wearing contact lens while doing sports is inconvenient, which actually is totally wrong. It is just the opposites; wearing lenses helps one get a wilder vision and eliminates the risk of eyeglasses falling down. Sports that do not permit one to wear contact lenses should be water sports, such as swimming, diving and surfing, etc., because when water spill into the eyes, one is easy to get a blur vision plus that the lenses are easy to fall out.

The invention of contact lens is one of the best inventions in human history. Contact lens was discovered in 1887, but it was not used at that time. At that time, contact lens were made of thick glass, as a result it was very difficult for the people to use it. Later, with advancement of technologies, contact lens became wearable. Nowadays, people prefer contact lens more than spectacles. Carrying a spectacle on their ears all day long is often a problem for hard working people and also for the young kids. For this kind of reason, people tend to use contact lens more than spectacles.

However, there are some problems about the contact lenses. Most importantly, it has to be cleaned regularly. Most people do not take much care of their lenses and are ignorant about it. There are several different options for cleaning and disinfecting a contact lens, depending on the type of lens a person is wearing. Not cleaning a contact lens regularly can cause discomfort and reduce vision and even contamination. However, contact lens cannot be cleaned like the glass spectacles; it should be cleaned very carefully. There are also certain limitations for cleaning a lens.

The discovery of contact lens is one of the most important discoveries in human history so far. According to many people, contact lens is a recent discovery, but the history of discovery of contact lens lies in the pages of history. The idea of contact lens was first proposed during the 16th century. But, due to lack of proper technology the idea was not given much importance and was declined. Much later, contact lenses made of glass were made for common people, but this time it was again a failure. These lenses were so heavy, that they were almost impossible for anyone to use. Gradually, with the advancement of technology, the composition of the contact lens changed, and it was made wearable by general people.

The contact lenses which are used nowadays are made of soft synthetic like materials, which do not produce any irritation to the human eye and are very comfortable. These contact lenses have replaced the glass spectacles successfully. Nowadays, most people use contact lens instead of the huge glass spectacles. Contact lenses are easy to wear and can be used by any person; even the infants can use a contact lens.

Whether you are a new contact lens wearer or you have been using them for years to correct your vision, you may be wondering how can you tell if a contact lens is inside out. If you suspect you may be wearing your contact lenses incorrectly or they just feel uncomfortable, here are some ways you can determine this to avoid the problem in the future.

Look at the Lens

Before placing the lens in your eye, hold it on the tip of your index finger and look at it carefully from the side. Is it shaped like the letter “U” or it is flared on the sides, like a soup bowl? The correct shape of a soft contact lens should be like the letter “U”. If it’s shaped like a soup bowl, then it’s inside out. Some people also recommend the “taco test” whereby you gently squeeze the lens so that the edges touch. If they touch completely, then the lens is right side out. If the edges flare out and don’t touch fully, then it’s inside out. Simply flip the lens around and it will be positioned correctly for wearing.
